Philips (Dunlee) specializes in industrial-scale advanced manufacturing of pure tungsten using laser powder bed fusion technology. At its manufacturing facility in the Netherlands, Philips has perfected laser-material processing to produce fine features of CT components, such as antiscatter grids, which require extreme precision. The feature sizes range from 60 to 100 microns, with a precision of up to 15 microns. Additionally, this process has been optimized to manufacture dense plasma-facing components for nuclear fusion, capable of withstanding extreme thermo-mechanical loads. The density of pure tungsten parts for nuclear fusion applications exceeds 99%.
