Electric Field Filters - Technical Introduction of "Ele-Fil" Non-contact filtration method using Coulomb repulsion generated between charged particles and applied electrode filter plate
Conventional filtration methods, such as membrane separation, are contact filtration in which the filter media filters out particulates directly. Contact filtration has a permanent problem of poor filtration performance due to cake formation and clogging of pores. In order to solve this problem, we have been researching a filtration method that uses Coulomb's law, since many of the fine particles suspended in water have a weak negative charge. We have developed an electric field filtration method that uses the repulsive force acting between charged particles and the electrode filter plate applied to the same electrode. The electric field filtration method is a non-contact filtration method that uses the electrical repulsive action of the electric field barrier formed on the electrode filter plate with a laminated structure. Slurries containing nanoparticles can be separated into clarifying filtrates and fine particle concentrates.
