    【Profile】

    Taro Hitosugi is a professor at the Department of Chemistry, The University of Tokyo. He also serves as a Specially Appointed Professor at the School of Materials and Chemical Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D. from The University of Tokyo in 1999. He specializes in solid-state chemistry and interface science.
    He has published more than 190 refereed papers in academic journals.


    【Abstract】

    The rise of machine learning and robotics has brought attention to "autonomous experiments," where computers assess situations and robots conduct experiments. This presentation introduces materials research using autonomous experiments.

    Joined Mitsui Chemicals in 2017, engaging in Materials Informatics (MI).
    Currently overseeing all aspects of Digital Transformation (DX) technologies at the DX Promotion Headquarters, DX Planning and Management Department.
    Specially Appointed Associate professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Shinshu University, in April 2022; became Specially Appointed Associate Professor in November.
    Assumed role as Invited Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University, in January 2023.


    【Abstract】

    The advancement of informatics technology has transformed the exploration of new applications from isolated data points to integrated optimization within data platforms. The evolution of generative AI and natural language processing, such as ChatGPT, is revolutionizing data utilization. This shift enables rapid discovery and development of new materials and applications, considering the entire value chain and market information. Technological innovation, especially in deep learning and natural language processing, is progressing at an astonishing pace, with new AI technologies like ChatGPT emerging continuously. The future is expected to see advancements in multimodal applications that consolidate various forms of information, including text, images, and numerical data.
