1987 Associate Professor, Faculty of Living Sciences, Kumamoto Women's University
1999 Professor, Faculty of Environmental and Symbiotic Sciences, Prefectural University of Kumamoto, in charge of Marine Ecology Laboratory
2022 to Present, The president of Prefectural University of Kumamoto

Major field is Marine ecology. The main themes of the research are ecology of benthic animals occurring in the sea floors under hypoxic water environment in estuary and ecosystem on the tidal flats. Recent research has also focused on the effects of increasing oxygen supply to organisms in hypoxic environments on their biological activity and the development of micro-bubble generators to increase that oxygen supply.

    【Abstract】

Prefectural University of Kumamoto and Taikohgiken Co., Ltd. have developed a micro-bubble generating nozzle based on DDHRS (Double-chamber Dual-vortex High-speed Rotation System) method, and have manufactured and marketed a micro-bubble generator (eco-Bubble®) using this nozzle. This equipment consists of three different series (S series, the submersible pump integrated models, N series) and the product model and the number of units used are selected according to the amount of water to be treated (10 L to 4,000 m3). In this seminar, the mechanism of micro-bubble generation by the DDHRS method and its features as a device will be explained. In addition, as examples of practical tests of this device, the results of its use in the cultivation of vannamei shrimp in Thailand and those in the hydroponic cultivation of leafy vegetables and the cultivation of potted cyclamen in Japan will be introduced, and the effectiveness of its use in each case will be explained.
