Expertise in metallurgical engineering and materials science particularly in the field of vacuum deposition technology. More than 15 years of academic and industrial experience in the area of functional hard coating for mechanical and tribological applications. Diverse experience in experimental method in thin film deposition, thin film characterization as well as plasma diagnostics and theoretical method such as first-principles calculation. Currently in charge of development of various industrial coating systems with cathodic arc, sputtering, and plasma-CVD technology used for cutting tools and automotive components.
【Abstract】
AlCrN coatings are known to exhibit a good mechanical, thermal, and oxidation resistance at severe machining condition, and hence widely used in cutting tool applications. The coating property and performance thereof are increased as the Al content is increased. However, it is generally believed that a highly Al containing AlCrN coating, e.g. Al content more than 65 at.%, tends to provides a poor property, which is due to formation of hexagonal phase in the coating deposited.
In newly developed PVD coating system, AIP-iX, together with the optimization of coating process, we have successfully deposited a highly Al containing AlCrN coatings sustaining a high fraction of cubic phase. The coating shows a 1.5 times better wear resistance as compared to a high-end coated tools for reference.
In this talk, we introduce the KOBELCO PVD technology and demonstrate the feature of AlCrN coating deposited by new PVD system, AIP-iX.
