【Abstract】

Energy harvesters are promising as stand-alone power sources for next-generation IoT (Internet-of-Things) small-sized wireless sensor nodes. In particular, vibrational energy harvesters (VEHs) are expected to be useful in a variety of locations and applications because they can operate day and night, indoors and outdoors. Particular attention has been paid to electrostatic VEHs that use electrets because of their wide frequency tuning range and relatively high output power density. Recently, our research group has developed a novel technology to form self-assembled electrets (SAEs), which are electrets that do not require any charging process, in MEMS devices, and has been working toward higher output power and circuit integration of electrostatic MEMS-VEHs.
This seminar provides an overview of MEMS VEHs, technology trends, and recent research results of our research group , including examples of COMSOL simulations.
